On December 16, 2016 we had a College Fair during the period we have class which is periods 5-6, the College Fair was at the Library/ CCEC Center and we had people from different Colleges, the Army, and the Marine in attendance. I went to some colleges that were there and I asked them about what programs/ majors they were offering, and if they had programs/ majors I was interested in and was looking forward to I kept asking questions and finding out more info. Overall there were some colleges there that had the program/ major I was interested in and some were up state as cool as they were I wasn't ready to go upstate for college I wanted to stay in the City still. I also go information about the Army because at the time I was interested but as time passed by I wasn't that interested in the Army any more so I focused on Colleges in the City. Overall this college fair was a good experience because it got me a little more interested in colleges and help my decision to choose a college more easy for me.

Today on June 6th 2017 I participate in a WBL workshop for community service hours representing my school and the Web Design Academy. In that WBL workshop Ravi and me were talking about our school and what we do in the Web Design Academy how we get into the academy what classes we take and what test we take to be certified in Web Design Academy. Once we were done we decided to walk around and get to know a little better the other CTE schools that were there. We went over to Long Island High School table and they told us about there CTE Academy which is a cooking class, I mainly went over because that had food and they told us how they teach there students how to cook different things like cookies and muffins, and then we went over to the Aviation High School tablke where they told us in four 4 they take shop classes and they learned everything about Airplanes how to fix a part how to build a plane model and all, and when they are in there junior year they study and get to take there FAA exam, if they pass there FAA exam they are certified in the FAA field which is the field of Aircraft/ Planes. Today was a good experience for me in the WBL fair learning about those schools and representing our schools and talking about the Web Design Academy.

Most of the panelist there were telling us stories about People's life and how technology and other stuff improve their lives. For example there was this one solider who is an engineer and he has a job were he is in charged of controlling a robot from a laptop I believe, he gave us an example of how he uses and controls the robot. Overall this was a good trip because we got to hear from different people on the panel on what they do and how STEM is a good career to go into.

This is our fourth WBL Workshop and this one was on “Interview Skills” and we had a guest speaker by the name of Mr. Michael Chao, MBA, from Wood Tobe-Coburn School. He told us the Do's and Don't of you doing at an interview. He told us what not to do and how to answer questions and gave us hints of how our resume should be submitted and what are good things to wear when going to an interview. Mr. Michael Chao recommended that guys we wear the powerful trio color on our interview which are navy blue, dark red, brown and that we should have straight eye contact with the person interviewing us. Mr. Michael Chao talked about the different skills we should use and the body language to have when talking to somebody. Mr. Michael Chao went around the room to see how people would shake someone's hand and everybody would get it incorrect. So Mr. Michael Chao showed us how to shake a person's hand and that there is a specific way to have firmly shake a hand. This WBL Workshop was so helpful to use because it taught us what to do and what not to do while at an interview.

This is our third WBL Workshop of the year and in this WBL Workshop was about child labor laws and workplace safety. We learned all about child labor laws and workplace safety because some of use are already working of going to be working so they needed to teach us our rights while at work and all about workplace safety like what we can do and what we can't do while at work and especially how many hours we can work during a school week and during summer break. Our WBL coordinator Ms.Lopez gave us a packet and in that packet was all the rules and relegations about workplace safety and it also had all about child labor laws. I Learned that I can not work past 11 on weekends and past 9:30-10 on school days and if something is wrong, I have to alert and report it to the supervisor as fast as possible and that I have to get paid the minimum wage and I can not work if something is broken in the workplace. This was a good workshop for us because most of us are getting ready to work part time and we need to learn our rights while at work.

This is our second WBL Workshop of the year and this WBL Workshop was about discovering our DNA (Dynamic Natural Abilities) . What we did was we answered a packet that was handed to us by our WBL coordinator Ms.Lopez and in that b]packet we had different questions to answer like what we like to do and whats our dream jump and all, once we filled it up we added up how many we answered and we took those numbers and we saw what our DNA (Dynamic Natural Abilities) is. This workshop was more like a puzzle that we played to find our career because there are six different areas that will tell us which career is the best for our interest and we had to answer all the six areas and we got a career that would interest us to pursue. The six areas that were in that packet were Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. This was a good WBL Workshop because we saw out careers that might interest us to pursue just in case we didn't know what to pursue in college.

This is our first Work Based Learning Workshop of senior year in the Web Design CTE Academy. All CTE Academy students were required to attend and in the workshop we were informed of educational programs. This workshop is about the prerequisite of the Work Base Learning Requirements, in this workshop, the Ms.Lopez was educating us in all the necessity documentation and printed material required to graduate with a CTE Diploma and furthermore about entry level position prerequisites and volunteer prerequisites. In the event that any student didn't get the opportunity to be an assistant, they can talk with the WBL Coordinator Ms.Lopez to discover a place for temporary position where they can get all there community service hours they needed to talk quick before anyone else. Besides that this workshop resembles a refresher for CTE students and their desires since we need to check on the off chance that we finished the required hours for group administration and entry level position. I felt this was an important time as we took in what is required from us to help us better comprehend senior year before going in.

Have the professionals taken your advice or did they ignore it and went with something else? Are they gonna open more offices here in New York City and other offices in different countries around the world? and Are they gonna keep expanding or are they gonna stay the way they are with 22 offices around the world?
So yesterday we went to our last CTE Web Design Trip where we went to GLG Company, when I first got there I was really impressed with the design of the company building, it ddin't feel like a work place at all to me because it didn't a lot of cubicals and there were working in free space. I left there yesterday with a good experience from the GLG company and all the people that work in GLG.

We had out final WBL workshop on Thursday May 5th 2017 in the CCEC Center and, we learned about finance and saving. It's very important that we save money for the future because we will need it later on for ourself for our future. In that workshop we learned what should be our 3 important things and what our 3 least important things be. We also learned what we need to spend our money on and what not to spend our money on and the most important thing how to invest in ourself in our future. We learned not only money is important, and that time is of the essence as well and not to spend our time with the wrong people and doing the wrong things because later on we will regret it. We need to spend our time on doing good things for ourself's and going to school to get a degree to get a good job. Mr.Franck even told us about this app called Stash were you could take money from your savings as much as you want and someone will buy a stock for you.We learned a lot from this WBL workshop that Mr.Franck was teaching us.

This is my LAB 12 reflection, for LAB 12 this was our second time working with JQuery so it wasn't that hard to work and add JQuery to this lab. For this LAB 12 we had to do was make up 8 questions and have 8 answers to it and the catch is that we had to make a dropdown with JQuery to make the answer drop down and it has that function on all 8 questions. What was the challenging for me was getting the drop down for the answers to work in JQuery that was hard because it was because I had a wrong code insert I had the part of the code incorrect written so I had to go to my notes and see the code again and go to W3Schools and see the code and see what part I can fix and I did and I fixed it and tested it out before I submitted. I wrote down questions about me like what class I like What are my favorite shoes and favorite car. Overall this is what I did in my LAB 12 and this was how I fixed my error code in the JQuery script section and the Javascript.

This is my LAB 11 reflection, for LAB 11 this was our second time working with JQuery so it wasn't that hard to work and add JQuery to this lab. JQuery was really challenging for me because I found that Jquery is really hard more hard than JavaScript. For LAB 11 we had to create two boxes with one when you hover over it it will change the color and the second box being when you hover over it will change the text to say something else. For me the hardest part was getting the JQuery to work with the hover and changing the text because that was the part that wasn't working for me. So I had to go back and trouble shoot the code and what I found out was that I had a part of my code not correctly it was suppose to be in Uppercase letters and that's a mistake I had for a second time because I forget that with JQuery you will have some code in Uppercase letters so the code will activated and work. Overall this was a good lab it wasn't that challenging like the first JQuery Lab we did.

This is my LAB 10 reflection, for LAB 10 this was our first time working with JQuery so what we had to do was add JQuery to this lab. JQuery was really challenging for me because I found that Jquery is really hard more hard than JavaScript. When I started my LAB 10 I added the usually things to it which was the CSS and Javascript that I have to keep my webpage consist threw out the year. Adding JQuery was really hard for me because at first we had to download the JQuery from the website we got, then I had tom add the Script code but that was the part that wasn't working for me and also the hide, fadeIn, and fadeOut wasn't working for me that was the challenging part of this I had to go back to the script part and see what was the problem in my code, and I found out that the fadeIn and fadeOut part the I and O weren't uppercase so that caused my JQuery not to work once I changed that to uppercase the JQuery was finally working and the Lab was ready to be uploaded.

CTE Expo

Kevin Martinez
On Monday February 13 we had the CTE Expo where we were talking to freshman and convincing them to join the Web Design Academy. This was our last CTE expo so we were doing our very best to bring in freshman to the Academy. What we did is we grab a freshman and brought them to a computer and show them the work we did in senior year so far. Once we showed them I talked to them about the code I used to create, I explained to them what HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is and how it works. I also explained to them what they will do in sophomore year what they will learn and the program they will use, which are Photoshop CS6 InDesign CS6 and what to expect in sophomore year. Then I explained What they will be doing in junior year and how they will be introduce to HTML Code and work in TextEdit and then move on to Dreamweaver CS6 and I told them that after that they will learn about CSS and how to apply CSS to their previous work to make it look a little better, I also explained to them that they will use Illustrator to create their first ever video game in the computer, Finally I explained to them what they will learn in senior year which is JavaScript and how they will use their HTML, CSS and now JavaScript knowledge and combine that to make projects and labs. I told them the commitment it takes to be in the CTE academy and how it will be worth it because you will leave with a CTE diploma.
